Abstract

The issue of the study is focused on the influence of emotional intelligence on the political behavior of youth students. The specific purpose of this study was to test the effect of emotional intelligence competence on political behavior constructs among youth students in universities, by looking at differences of findings in treatment group and control group through the application of emotional intelligence module. A total of 295 people among university youth students were selected as respondents from four Public Universities in Malaysia. The measurement tools used were the Emotional Intelligence Self-Description Inventory (EISDI), and the Political Behavior Questionnaire (PBQ). In this study, T-Test analysis and ANOVA test were used to determine the differences between the two treatment and control groups. The findings of the study showed that there was a significant effect in the post -test for the treatment group because of the differences before and after treatment. Yet the findings from the control group showed no significant value. In summary, the results of the study showed that the treatment group had a change effect on the perception of political behavior with the implementation of emotional intelligence competencies in teaching and learning modules.

Isu kajian adalah tertumpu kepada pengaruh kecerdasan emosi ke atas tingkah laku politik mahasiswa belia. Tujuan khusus kajian ini adalah untuk menguji kesan kompetensi kecerdasan emosi ke atas konstruk tingkah laku politik dalam kalangan mahasiswa belia di universiti, dengan melihat perbezaan dapatan dalam kumpulan rawatan dan kumpulan kawalan melalui aplikasi modul kecerdasan emosi. Seramai 295 orang dalam kalangan mahasiswa belia universiti telah dipilih menjadi responden daripada empat buah Universiti Awam di Malaysia. Alat pengukuran yang digunakan adalah soal selidik Emotional Intelligence Self-Description Inventory (EISDI), dan Political Behaviour Questionnaire (PBQ). Dalam kajian ini, analisis Ujian-T dan ujian ANOVA digunakan untuk menentukan perbezaan antara kedua-dua kumpulan rawatan dan kawalan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat kesan yang signifikan dalam ujian pasca bagi kumpulan rawatan kerana berlaku perbezaan sebelum dan selepas rawatan. Namun dapatan daripada kumpulan kawalan menunjukkan tiada nilai yang signifikan. Ringkasnya, hasil kajian menunjukkan kumpulan rawatan mempunyai kesan perubahan terhadap persepsi tingkah laku politik dengan adanya implementasi kompetensi kecerdasan emosi dalam modul pengajaran dan pembelajaran.
