Synopsis

Perkembangan awal isu kelestarian kampus boleh diselusuri sejak tahun 1972 iaitu respon daripada Deklarasi Stockholm mengenai persekitaran manusia. Selepas deklarasi itu, banyak universiti mula mengiktiraf secara rasmi inisiatif untuk mengembangkan idea kelestarian sebagai matlamat institusi berkenaan. Pada tahun 1990, Deklarasi Talloires membawa kepada komitmen secara rasmi yang pertama terhadap kerjasama antara universiti dalam merealisasikan idea kelestarian alam sekitar dan seterusnya memantapkan peranan pendidikan tinggi dalam memperjuangkan idea tersebut. Sehubungan dengan itu, kelestarian kampus adalah strategi dan amalan yang dilaksanakan di kebanyakan institut pengajian tinggi di Malaysia. Beberapa universiti giat menyusun pelbagai strategi untuk mengamalkan budaya kelestarian kampus dalam pelbagai fasa dan peringkat. Untuk itu, buku Kelestarian Kampus – Strategi dan Amalan ini didapati relevan sebagai rujukan pelbagai institut pendidikan tertier di negara ini. Buku ini menghimpunkan lapan artikel dengan memberikan tumpuan kepada dua isu iaitu strategi dan amalan dalam kelestarian kampus. Berdasarkan aspek konseptual, sorotan literatur mahupun dapatan kajian yang terkandung dalam buku ini, pembaca akan memperolehi pengetahuan yang lebih luas terhadap senario semasa dalam perkembangan kelestarian kampus di Malaysia. Buku ini adalah amat berguna kepada mereka yang ingin mendapatkan pengetahuan lanjut tentang perkembangan dalam pembangunan kelestarian kampus di beberapa universiti terpilih di Malaysia. Seterusnya, buku ini boleh dijadikan sebagai bahan rujukan kepada pelbagai pihak sama ada mereka yang terlibat dalam bidang pengurusan persekitaran dan pengurusan kelestarian kampus seperti pensyarah, penyelidik, pelajar pascasiswazah dan prasiswazah mahupun mereka yang terlibat dalam pengurusan dan pelaksanaan dasar yang berkaitan dengan bidang seumpamanya. Buku ini turut sesuai untuk bacaan umum dan rujukan tambahan kepada pelbagai pihak yang terlibat dalam pembangunan kelestarian kampus termasuklah pendidik dan pelajar sekolah menengah.
