Leveraging Integrated Systems for Urban Infrastructure Management
Keywords:
Urban infrastructure, Integrated system, asset management and monitoringAbstract
Urban infrastructure is the backbone of modern cities, ensuring the seamless provision of essential services such as transportation, water supply, energy distribution, and waste management. However, the increasing complexity of urban environments, combined with aging infrastructure and growing population demands, presents significant challenges for asset management and monitoring. This research introduces an integrated framework for urban infrastructure asset management and monitoring, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, sustainability, and resilience. By leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the framework enables real-time data acquisition, automated condition assessment, and intelligent decision-making. Central to this approach is the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) standards to structure and categorize triggers and consequences across interdependent infrastructure assets. The framework incorporates predictive analytics and data-driven decision support mechanisms to facilitate proactive maintenance strategies, reduce service disruptions, and optimize resource allocation. The research contributes to the advancement of infrastructure governance by demonstrating how digital transformation can improve lifecycle performance and support adaptive, scalable solutions for sustainable urban development.
