The instructions below are specifically directed at authors that wish to submit a manuscript to Journal of Science and Technology (JST). Journal of Science and Technology considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to Journal of Science and Technology, that they have not been published before, nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Authors who fail to adhere to this condition, their papers will not be published.

Contributions to Journal of Science and Technology must report original research and will be subjected to review by referees at the discretion of the Editorial Office.

 


 

Manuscript Format and Preparation

Abstract: Abstract must be in fully-justified text, below the author information. The abstract is to be in 10-point Times New Roman, single-spaced type. The length of the abstract should be between 150-200 words.

Keyword: List the keywords covered in your paper. These keywords will also be used by the publisher to produce a keyword index.

  1. Introduction

    This template explains and demonstrates how to prepare your camera-ready paper for Journal of Science and Technology. The best is to read these instructions and follow the outline of this text. The manuscripts including table and figures must be in English.

    For the rest of the paper, please use Times New Roman (Font size 10), single spacing.

    Should authors use tables or figures from other Publications, they must ask the corresponding publishers to grant them the right to publish this material in their paper.

    Please make the page settings of your word processor to A4 format (21 × 29.7 cm or 8 × 11 inches); with the margins: top/bottom 2.54 cm (1 in) and right/left margins must be 2.54 cm (1 in).

    Normal or research article is limited to less than 10 pages, whereas review paper must be more than 30 pages (contents only) with adequate references.

    We shall be able to publish your paper in electronic form on our web page penerbit.uthm.edu.my/ojs/index.php/jst, if the paper format and the margins are correct.

  2. Author name(s) and affiliation(s)                                                   Author names and affiliations are to be left indent beneath the title and printed in Times New Roman. Corresponding author should be checked by asterisk (*).

  3. Organization of the Text  

    Section Headings. The section headings are in boldface capital and lowercase letters.

    Page Numbers. Do not number your paper.

    Tables. Tables (refer with: Table 1, Table 2, ...) should be presented as part of the text, but in such a way as to avoid confusion with the text. A descriptive title should be placed above each table.

    Special Signs. for example , α γ μ Ω () ≥  ±  should always be written in with the fonts Times New Roman or Arial, especially also in the figures and tables.

    Macros. Do not use any macros for the figures and tables. 

    Language. All text, figures and tables must be in English.

    Figures. Figures (refer with: Fig. 1, Fig. 2, ...) also should be presented as part of the text, leaving enough space so that the capt­ion will not be confused with the text. The caption should be self-contained and placed below the figure. Generally, only original drawings or photographic reproductions are acceptable. Only very good photocopies are acceptable. Utmost care must be taken to insert the figures in correct alignment with the text. Half-tone pictures should be in the form of glossy prints. If possible, please include your figures as graphic images in the electronic version. 

    Color figures are welcome for the online version of the journal.

    Equations. Equations (refer with: Eq. 1, Eq. 2, ...) should be indented 5 mm (0.2"). There should be one line of space above the equation and one line of space below it before the text continues. The equations have to be numbered sequentially, and the number put in parentheses at the right-hand edge of the text. Equations should be punctuated as if they were an ordinary part of the text. Punctuation appears after the equation but before the equation number. The use of Microsoft Equation is allowed.

  4. References in text 

    References are cited in the text just by square brackets [1]. Two or more references at a time may be put in one set of brackets [3,4]. The references are to be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text and are to be listed at the end of the contribution under a heading References, see our example below.

  5. Conclusion

    If you follow the checklist your paper will conform to the requirements of the publisher and facilitate a problem-free publication process.

  6. References
    List and number all references in Times New Roman 10-point, single-spaces, at the end of your paper. Author (last name then followed with name for the first author and first name for the second author), title year, publisher (italic), volume (number) includes page number. Examples :

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • Plagiarism check. (plagiarism is copying another's work or borrowing someone else's original ideas.) ( http://turnitin.com/ )
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 10-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points
